Firefighters try to extinguish flames following the explosion that officials believe was caused by a car bomb.

At least 18 people have been killed and 45 others injured in an explosion that rocked the Turkish capital Wednesday, the governor of Ankara confirmed.

Mehmet Kilicer said Wednesday officials believe the explosion was caused by a car bomb.

The explosion occurred during rush hour in an area some 328 yards away from military headquarters.
